Privacy
Photos are used only for analysis and never stored on our servers. Saved reports live in your own browser.

How does the AI skin analysis work?
Capture or upload a clear face photo. A live quality gate in your browser first checks four things — face detected, good lighting, sharp image, and face centered — and requires a 70% quality score. Your skin tone, undertone, and natural base are then measured from facial skin pixels in the Lab colour space, and an AI vision model builds colour, grooming, and skincare guidance from the findings.
Is MoonSkin free? Do I need an account?
Yes, it is completely free, and no — there is no account, sign-up, or subscription. You can run unlimited analyses and export every report as a PDF.
What photo quality gives the best results?
Soft, even lighting with your face centered and a single face in frame. Avoid heavy filters, strong shadows, backlighting, and blurry images. The live camera view shows all four quality checks in real time so you can fix problems before capturing.
What image formats are supported?
JPG/JPEG, PNG, and WEBP. For best performance, keep files under 5MB with a clear, front-facing face.
Is my photo stored? How is my data handled?
Your photo is used only to run the analysis: face detection and quality checks happen locally in your browser, and the photo is then sent once to the AI model to generate your report. It is not stored on our servers. There is no account, so no profile of you exists anywhere.
Where is my analysis history kept?
Entirely in your own browser's local storage — never on a server. It stays on your device, is capped at the most recent 40 reports, and you can delete any report (or all of them) at any time. Clearing your browser data also clears it.
How accurate is the skin tone result?
Depth is measured, not guessed: pixels from your cheeks, forehead, and jaw are sampled, outliers removed, a bounded lighting correction applied, and the result classified into one of 12 depth categories by lightness (L*). Every report includes a confidence score, and difficult lighting lowers it honestly instead of being hidden.
Can I save or share my report?
Yes — every analysis can be exported as a PDF containing your skin profile, dress colours with hex codes, colours to avoid, and your skincare routine. Reports are also saved locally in your browser so you can reopen them from the History page.
What is the face shape test and is it also free?
Yes, it's free too. It maps 468 facial landmarks with MediaPipe and classifies your face shape — Oval, Round, Square, Rectangle, Triangle, Heart, Diamond, or Oblong — using pure geometry with no AI model involved, entirely in your browser.
Does MoonSkin diagnose skin conditions?
No. MoonSkin provides cosmetic and styling guidance only — it is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, or replace a dermatologist. For any skin health concern, consult a qualified professional.
