How the analysis works
- 1. Capture with a live quality gate. MediaPipe face detection runs entirely in your browser and scores four checks in real time — Face Detected, Good Lighting, Sharp Image, and Face Centered. Analysis only starts once your photo scores at least 70%, so bad lighting doesn't produce a bad result.
- 2. Measured, not guessed. Your skin tone is computed from actual facial skin pixels in the Lab colour space — cheeks, forehead, and jaw are sampled, outliers removed, and a bounded lighting correction applied before the depth, undertone, and natural base are classified.
- 3. A personalised report. An AI vision model then describes the observed colour and builds your guidance: dress colours with star ratings, colours to avoid, outfit ideas, grooming tips, and a morning and night skincare routine — all exportable as a PDF.
Your photo stays yours
Face detection and quality checks happen locally in your browser. When you run an analysis, your photo is sent to the AI model once to generate the report and is never stored on our servers. Saved reports live only in your own browser — your analysis history never leaves your device, and you can delete it whenever you like. There is no account, so there is no profile of you anywhere.

How does the AI skin analysis work?
Three stages. First, MediaPipe face detection runs in your browser and checks photo quality live — face detected, good lighting, sharp image, and face centered — before anything is analyzed. Second, your skin tone is measured directly from facial skin pixels in the Lab colour space, which separates lightness from colour cast. Third, an AI vision model describes the observed colour and suggests dress colours, grooming tips, and skincare guidance.
Is my photo stored anywhere?
Your photo is used only for the analysis. It is sent to the AI model to generate your report and is not stored on our servers. Saved reports live only in your own browser's local storage, and you can delete them at any time.
How accurate is the skin tone result?
Skin tone depth is measured from pixels, not guessed by the AI: MoonSkin samples your cheeks, forehead, and jaw, removes outliers, applies a bounded lighting correction, and classifies the result into one of 12 depth categories. Accuracy still depends on your photo, which is why the live quality gate requires a 70% quality score before analysis, and every report shows a confidence score.

What kind of photo works best?
